The chosen candidate will be part of the systems engineering team that is responsible for designing and developing scalable, maintainable, highly available network architectures that meet business objectives and SLAs.
The selected candidate shall be responsible for designing and implementing new solutions whilst improving resilience of current environments. He/she will be responsible for configuring and installing various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VOIP, VPN, QoS, WAN), performing network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations and providing Level 2/3 support & troubleshooting to resolve issues.
Duties shall also include monitoring performance and resource utilization, trending and capacity planning as well as ensuring system availability and reliability. The candidate must be able to work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure. He/she shall select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the company’s security team, update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and finally liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution
The selected candidate should have proven hands-on network engineering experience with certification in CCNA or higher (CCNP highly valued) and a University degree or equivalent. The individual should also have a deep understanding of networking protocols (e.g., IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS) as well as a solid understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP model. Hands-on experience with monitoring, network diagnostic and network analytics tools will be considered an asset.
Moreover, the chosen candidate must be willing to join a 24/7 on-call rotation roster and must be able to work in a fast paced environment forming part of a team of IT professions.
